Disparate Youth

“Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don’t fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
Oh, how to win what they all lost”

Two weeks ago, on my birthday weekend, I finally broke my hiatus and had my first photo session since moving to the Bay Area. This shoot had made me realize how spoiled I’ve become throughout the years as a photographer. I pretty much started from scratch – sans stylist, hmua, or assistant. As much as I love collaborating with a big production team, working one-on-one with my muse and friend. Hanna, felt refreshing, challenging, and very personal. Despite the simplicity of the shoot, I tried to spice it up by using a makeshift prism inspired by one of Lindsey Adler’s editorials. I always love working with frames and reflections and this concept was perfect with the SF scenery. I hope y’all enjoy.

Spring Flings

One of the things I love about fashion photography is collaborating with some of best talents there is. For my last fashion shoot in Cebu, I teamed up Origin Model Management, Chady Pantaleon, and Edward Castro to produce an editorial for Zee Lifestyle. Edward brought in his FIDA students – Janine Reserva, Nikka Morales, and Marielle Entero – to take charge of styling. I must say, I was nothing short of impressed. These young ladies did a remarkable job on making styling into an art form. I’ve been wanting to post these photos for the longest time not just to showcase my work, but to also bring light to my team’s skills. I cannot wait to join forces with everyone again. Hope y’all enjoy this set!

The High Road

“My compass may be broke
But you follow where I go
And you never really seem to mind it
Sun, stare it in the eye
Now I’m blinded by the light
That seein’ you with eyes wide open”

Belated Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! How did y’all spend hearts day? Tis another long, overdue post, but hopefully it will leave you tickled pink. I shot with Dexter Alazas and Janice Barillo last year and we were able to do another round of Femme Facade last summer. I do miss shooting with amazing talents. If you, or anyone you know, is in the Bay Area and want to collaborate, let me know! Hopefully, I’ll be able to share new projects here soon. Til then, enjoy!

Brighter Days

“And as the sun sets, baby, I’ll be looking in your eyes
Trying to find another song to sing
And as the sun sets baby, I finally realize
That I don’t need too much of everything
‘Cause as the sun goes down, I don’t want no one around but you.”

Hey, y’all! How’s 2016 been treating you? I’ve ventured off to a new adventure almost two months ago and have found myself in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s scary and exciting, but I’m hopeful that it’ll get my creative juices flowing like the Mississippi River.

Now that I’m more or less settled in, I finally found some downtime to work on my backlogs, like this long overdue set. If there’s one thing I miss, it’s probably having Luigi call me saying he’s back in Cebu and we end up running around shooting in the most random places. It’s probably  going to be a while before Lu and I will be able to shoot again, but I hope y’all enjoy. 🙂

P.S. – Check out his new song that he wrote. I feel like it vibes well with this set.

White Noise

Picture a pleasant, daytime walk in the forest. So serene. So picturesque with sunlight streaming through the leaves and the branches. Charming, right?

For this year’s annual Halloween shoot, I take away that illusion of a beautiful scenery and add a pinch of grim and eeriness to it. Let’s take a walk in that same forest just when it’s about to get dark. You hear a rustling on the side. You see what seems to be a ghostly figure passing by in the distance. Finally, you shout out,”Hey, did you guys see that?” Naw, it’s just your mind playing tricks on you. Or is it?

Happy Halloween, folks.

Mega Magazine: Man of Style June 2015

“I’m giving me something don’t get me hurt
I’m living of nothing to make it work
Because you’re my runaway

How’s everyone doing? Since my last post, I’ve been juggling the day job, freelance work, personal work, and going off on random adventures. So I can describe how behind I am with my editing with one word: completely. It’s been months since my last post here and, well, how could I ever top my underwater shoot? I’m still very much in love with it.

This set though means a lot to me. Back in May, my assistant and I got lost in Danao City (no, really) to have what I feel is one of my most important shoots to date. I finally had the chance to shoot for Mega Magazine. *inserts happy dance* My model was fellow Cebuano, LJ Almendras, for the June 2015 Man of Style spread. Lj and his family were so wonderful, warm, and welcoming; it made shooting feel like a breeze, despite the intense summer heat.

Many thanks to David Cua, Angelo de Cartagena, and Mega Magazine for this amazing opportunity. Fingers crossed that there will be more projects to come. ❤

Secret of the Sea

“The sea, once it casts its spell,
holds one in its net of wonder forever”

I’m proud to say that I have been much more active lately. So much, that I’m actually having trouble catching up with my editing. But hey, I’d like to consider that a good problem. For now, I’ll be skipping to my most recent shoot, one that I have been dreaming to do since I started photography in high school. The summer season in the Philippines is finally here and what would be a better way to greet it than with an underwater shoot at the beach? I started planning it out last month with fashion designer/good friend/mermaid, Abigail Dahlberg. She’s had a lot more experience with taking photos underwater than me, so I knew she was well suited to be my stylist. I called on my trusted makeup artist, Eunice Enrera, to be part and one of my newest fave models, Elizabeth Von Kalm, to be part of my team. There were a lot of obstacles that came my way, but I’m so so grateful that everything fell into place. (The universe does love to troll with me.) We drove all the way to Oslob to shoot in the beautiful Sumilon Island. Why go all the way there? Well, I knew the waters in Sumilon would be very clear and how could you say no to a mini summer escapade? There is still I lot I need to work on with regards to underwater photography. This was my first, but definitely not last, underwater shoot. I’m excited for the next one already! Hope y’all enjoy going through this set. Much love.
