Younger Than Springtime

“Younger than springtime are you
Softer than starlight are you
Warmer than the winds of June
Are the gentle lips you gave me”

Hey, y’all. Happy fall. Though I’m not entirely sure San Francisco got the memo just yet. (Not complaining though). Like the seasons, there have definitely been a lot of transitions for me in the past few months, both at home and at work. Some good, some not as pleasant. In the midst of all the crazy, I’m reminded of the importance of self-care, how art is my best catharsis, and finding beauty in the breakdown. It’s definitely been a whirlwind of emotions, but now I’m ready to get back to regular programming and slowly start creating again – may it be painting, dance, or photography. This (long overdue) set brought me back to basics. While I’ve come to thrive in collaborating with a big team over the years, I love the intimacy of shooting with just me and my muse. I’ll stop my rambling now, and let y’all enjoy the beauty that is Jaclyn.

Open Season

“Thought we could always try a bit harder
But if the dice don’t wanna roll in your favour
It falls apart, the fantasy falls apart”

How’s everyone doing? Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to go back home to Cebu and shoot with some amazing talents. I got to collaborate with one of my favorites, Bree Esplanada, along with Mikhail Achas, Jessie Lastimosa, and Andrea Dela Torre, with my cousin Joey Villahermosa as our muse. It was a long, hot, and humid day, but seeing all the beautiful designs and working with all these creatives kept me going until we ran out of light. Like my last shoot with Ange, this editorial will come in two sets. This one will have you seeing red for the designers’ valentine edition – which was featured in Sunstar Cebu. Enjoy!

Fading Through

“Somebody came into this house
Upon their head a crown of thorns
As every winter came and left
They’re not leaving you alone.”

Hey, y’all. I hope everyone is doing well. The past few weeks have been interesting, to say the least. I’ve taken a couple of out-of-town trips, have had a bunch of visitors come in, and I’ve been prepping to *drumroll* (finally) move into SF. Now that I’ve gotten some downtime, I’m glad to finally share part II of my shoot with Ange with everyone. Unlike part I, this set takes a darker turn. My crew did an amazing job to help me create a beautifully, eerie mood. Twas really a team effort – as all of my shoots are. I hope y’all enjoy, and hopefully when I’ve settled into the city, I’ll finally get back on track with my shoots. Cheers!

Temporary Love

“So unsafe
Is this temporary love I crave
Will we ever get enough to take
From the memory, it was a phase”

I’m so excited to finally share some new content. This was another shoot I did during my trip back home, with the one-and-only Ange Gomez. It’s been years since I’ve gotten to shoot with her, and man did she amaze me with every click I took. There were so many great shots to choose from that this is actually part 1 of the set that I’ll be posting here. Funny backstory,  I actually found myself sharing the studio with one of my former photography students. We all scrambled to figure out how to go about with it, but in the end, we all had a great time helping each other out and produce great shots. Of course, I could not have pulled any of this off without my wonderful team. I hope y’all enjoy this set, and stay tuned for part 2.

Water Flow

“While you’re living out in your chemistry
Losing all your thoughts and your memories
Take another hour, let the weather pass
It’s changing like the tide like it always has”

There’s just something about shooting in water that just gets me. I love the challenge of being in a totally different element and, even more so, the results you get when you’re able to capture the right moments. In my recent trip back to Cebu, I definitely grabbed the opportunity to go on a shooting spree- especially one where I get back in the water. I’ll admit, there were a few bumps throughout the planning process, but it’s so crazy how everything fell into place on the day of the shoot. This was the first time Maria and I got to work together since my thesis shoot four years ago, and it amazes me to see how much she’s developed as a model – I could not have been any more proud of her. And it wasn’t just Maria, my whole team did such a fantastic job. Collaborating with great talent is one of the biggest reasons as to why I love shooting fashion. Well, I won’t keep you. It’s been almost a year since my last photo session, so I hope y’all enjoy this set. Cheers.

Disparate Youth

“Oh, we said our dreams will carry us
And if they don’t fly we will run
Now we push right past to find out
Oh, how to win what they all lost”

Two weeks ago, on my birthday weekend, I finally broke my hiatus and had my first photo session since moving to the Bay Area. This shoot had made me realize how spoiled I’ve become throughout the years as a photographer. I pretty much started from scratch – sans stylist, hmua, or assistant. As much as I love collaborating with a big production team, working one-on-one with my muse and friend. Hanna, felt refreshing, challenging, and very personal. Despite the simplicity of the shoot, I tried to spice it up by using a makeshift prism inspired by one of Lindsey Adler’s editorials. I always love working with frames and reflections and this concept was perfect with the SF scenery. I hope y’all enjoy.

Spring Flings

One of the things I love about fashion photography is collaborating with some of best talents there is. For my last fashion shoot in Cebu, I teamed up Origin Model Management, Chady Pantaleon, and Edward Castro to produce an editorial for Zee Lifestyle. Edward brought in his FIDA students – Janine Reserva, Nikka Morales, and Marielle Entero – to take charge of styling. I must say, I was nothing short of impressed. These young ladies did a remarkable job on making styling into an art form. I’ve been wanting to post these photos for the longest time not just to showcase my work, but to also bring light to my team’s skills. I cannot wait to join forces with everyone again. Hope y’all enjoy this set!
